Open Positions
Intern / PhD / Postdoc Positions
Applications for research positions are always welcome from exceptional students. For further details please email Jeremy Richardson, .
Projects will be tailored to suit the skills and interests of the applicants. Possible research topics include:
- development of nonadiabatic dynamics methods
- development of nonadiabatic rate theory
- development of new instanton theories
- study of quantum effects in molecules and condensed phases
Short internships are available to students who have completed a Master's degree or who wish to carry out a research project as part of their degree course at another university. Summer projects are also available for EU/Swiss students only. Applicants should be able to program in python and should explain in a motivation letter why they are interested in a research project in the group.
Applicants for PhD studentships should have (or be about to finish) a Master's degree). Previous experience with research in quantum dynamics is welcome but not required. However, the student should explain their interest in pursuing a PhD in theoretical molecular quantum dynamics and describe their mathematical and computational abilities. A good way of quantifying these abilities is by attempting a few problems from external page projecteuler.net. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate that they are successful at this task.
Postdoctoral applicants should hold (or be about to finish) a PhD in a related field and should have experience in programming. For certain projects, experience with electronic structure calculations will also be advantageous. Although not necessary, applicants are also encouraged to suggest their own project ideas which fit in with the research themes of the group and to consider applying for external fellowships.

Master's/Bachelor's projects
Students enrolled at ETH Zürich are encouraged to contact Jeremy Richardson, , to discuss available projects. Projects will be tailored to suit the student's interests, be they from a physics, mathematical, computer science or chemistry background.
Information on the Master's courses at the chemistry department can be found on the departmental web pages.
